Allimand operates high-performance pilot machines, continuously upgraded to meet the specific requirements of its R&D policy. Allimand also benefits from a unique advantage: its industrial site in Rives is located near the Paper Technical Center and the Pagora Engineering School, which train the future professionals of the paper industry.
NONWOVENS & COMPOSITES
Thanks to its complete long-fiber pilot line, Allimand is a development partner for high-value-added nonwoven and composite products.
SHOE-PRESS
Allimand’s shoe press pilot allows for testing and validating the dynamic behavior of innovative technical solutions requested by paper and fibrous substrate producers. Numerous measurements are taken online to control mechanical, hydraulic, and automation variables. The specifications of this pilot line are as follows:
- Maximum speed: 1800m/min
- Maximum pressure: 1400 kN/m
- Width: 1000 mm
- Shoe press diameter: 1270 mm
- Counter press diameter: 1546 mm
- Power: 315 kW
COATING & IMPREGNATION PILOT
Allimand’s coating and impregnation pilot test allows for the testing of new coating colors, impregnations, and mechanical configurations, for new fibrous applications. In addition to new product development, these pilot tests offers a wide range of possibilities (SC Sizer, curtain coater, rod coater, or blade coater), including the optimization of existing products and the reduction of surface treatment costs. Its specifications are as follows:
- Speed: 80 to 800 m/min
- Sheet width: 550 mm
- Reel diameter: 1100 mm
- Inner core diameter: 76 and 152 mm
CALENDERING PILOT
Calendering paper, cardboard, and fibrous substrates allows for adjustments of their smoothness, porosity, thickness, and gloss. Allimand offers its customers a Soft Calender pilot equipped with a physical testing laboratory. This analytical laboratory enables the immediate characterization of calendering results. The specifications of this pilot calender are as follows:
- Sheet width: 1000 mm
- Linear pressure: 350 kN/m
- Maximum surface temperature of the counter roll: 250°C
- Maximum speed: 1500 m/min
HEADBOX
This pilot controls the stability and performance of the “S4” hydraulic headbox.
It allows for the simulation of different operating configurations to ensure a uniform stock jet and to verify the influence that the cross direction basis weight control has on local areas. Technological developments of the « S4 » hydraulic headbox can also be tested on this pilot machine.
