Following the modernisation of the post-dryer in 2011 and the installation of the sizer in 2014, Ahlstrom and Allimand are continuing their long-term partnership based on innovation and industrial performance.
The new hydraulic headbox, featuring basis weight profile control via dilution, has been specifically designed to fit within the machine’s limited space whilst meeting the technical and quality requirements of the Rottersac site.

A strategic equipment
The investment was launched in July 2025, with preparatory work and project organisation getting under way. The replacement of this strategic equipment was then carried out during the annual shutdown in July 2026. The Allimand teams took full charge of the project, from the removal of the old headbox to the commissioning of the new installation.
Ahlstrom is now one of the world’s leading producers of speciality papers, whilst Allimand is recognised as one of the leading manufacturers of machines for the production of technical and high value-added papers. This partnership therefore fits naturally within a shared vision of innovation, reliability and industrial excellence.
Incidentally, this project marks the 75th headbox delivered by Allimand in France. It also comes at a special time, as Allimand celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2025, whilst Ahlstrom will celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2026 – two long-established industrial companies that continue to invest and innovate to shape the future of the paper industry.
